The 2024 Kansas State Fair has officially kicked off today so here’s what is new this year!
First off, the State Fair is bringing back pig races! You can watch those little piggies run around near Hendrick’s Petting Zoo which will make for a fun time! You can also catch the Sunflower Seniors Got Talent Show in Hansen Auditorium today from 2:00pm-4:00pm. One of the biggest changes is the all-new 1861 Club, which is named after the year Kansas was founded. This multi-million dollar addition is a welcome update to an already great and bustling fair as it will provide food and beverages as well as entertainment in a climate-controlled environment. Outside of the State Fair, this building operates as a venue for weddings and other special events. And there are also some other great additions like Goat Yoga, Hutch Storytime and an additional Catholic Mass on Saturday 9/7. Another great addition to this year’s State fair is the all-new Kansas State Fair App! Useful for its food and shopping vendor map and its handy daily schedule. It will also provide answers to frequently asked questions and more. It is available for both iOS and Android now.
This year, attendees can also expect some new food items such as pretzel-wrapped pickles, grilled cheese slammers, brisket sausage sandwiches, taco burger sliders, and s'mores quesadillas.
Additionally, we have a really great lineup this year for the Nex-Tech Grandstand! Tonight, Wynonna Judd will kick things off with Kimberly Perry. Tomorrow, Goo Goo Dolls, with hits like “Iris” and “Long Way Down” will take the stage. On Sunday, La Alianza Norteña will bring their signature sound to the Grandstand. You can all then expect the Demo Derby to tear it up on Monday night followed by Let’s Sing Taylor, a musical tribute to Taylor Swift on Tuesday September 10th. Casting Crowns will then take the stage featuring Katy Nichole on Wednesday with Broadway’s Rock of Ages band on Thursday! The last three days will feature Pop Evil with Diamante on September 13th, Riley Green with Ella Langley on September 14th, and finally, The Oak Ridge Boys closing things out on September 15th.
And don’t forget to keep an eye out for our mascot Andi as we are still holding our Golden Android Scavenger hunt. Check out our previous blog post for the rules and how to participate. NTW will also have our Snapchat lens which we debuted last year! Just search for “NTW,” “Nex-Tech Wireless,” or “NTW Shades” to find it in the app. You can even scan the barcode below to get taken straight to the lens. Make sure you snap pictures of yourself and your friends and families having fun at the Kansas State Fair using our lens and send them our way!
